    All-

Anyone out there familiar with the oft used Updater add-on found at http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/updater ? I recently updated to the latest version (3.2.11) and I am getting some odd AJAX errors before I even attempt to do anything with the tool. Sample below. Ignoring that message, I also get a PHP error every time I attempt an update. Essentially, the add-on doesn’t work and the developer has a pretty hands-off policy on customer support.

Appreciate any comments. See attached screenshots below.

You submitted a support ticket to DevDemon? http://www.devdemon.com/support

Is your issue with DevDemon’s updater or with the Securit:ee add-on?  It looks like Securit:ee is not tested or supported past version 1.3.1 at this point.  http://www.devdemon.com/docs/updater/tested_addons.html

You’ll just have to update that one the old fashioned way.

    Thanks for the reply-

The Securit:ee add-on works just fine. After Updater failed to work, I just updated it manually (as you also suggested) and there were no issues. Securit:ee was just an example that I used for the screenshot. Every attempt at updating results in the same error.

We have submitted a ticket to the developer, but our experience in the past has been less than positive. They have all kinds of disclaimers on their site stating that they only help with the actual install of their tool—nothing more! So, basically if you need help copying files to the right directories they are happy to help. Outside of that ... sorry ... you are on your own ... but thanks for the $25! We have submitted tickets in the past for other products and have never received a response. Not once. We have a saying at our company, “customer service is an attitude, not a department.” But I digress.

Welcome other input on this or suggestions of things I can try.

Honestly I feel the same about updater.  I love the idea, and it’s absurd that EE doesn’t have any type of auto updating in this age of CMS’s, but it’s far too iffy for a production site.

You’ve already fixed it, but yeah manual updates are the way to go about it for anyone else stumbling across this.
