As threads like this and my own recent experience confirm, as of EE 2.8.0, uploading of SVG files is still not supported natively.
I think it should be. Add your support for this request in the poll above or add a comment below.

This might be a bit late, but you can allow SVG’s to be uploaded by adding
'svg' => 'image/svg'to your config/mimes.php file.
This will allow them to be uploaded but they won’t be treated as images so you will still need to set allowed file types to All in your field and upload directory.
