Automation of EE deployment across VMs using Chef: how to download the EE source code?

Has anyone else done automation of EE installs on virtual machines (VMs) using Chef? I can configure my VMs with the whole LAMP stack using Chef, but keep stalling at the EE installation.

This would be solved if I could host my EE source code (of which I have a valid license) on Github or Bitbucket. (Chef does not do authentication protocols, so logging in to the Ellis Lab website and pulling from the repo here wouldn’t work).

Can I host EE source code on Github or Bitbucket? Is there anything in the license that precludes that?

    Thanks in advance.

I have figured out a solution that works. Hopefully it doesn’t break the licensing agreement. I am hosting the file on a web accessible host within my company’s firewall. No outside access.
