I’ve looked elsewhere but haven’t found a definitive answer for EE 2.x so here it goes: is it possible to use CI’s MS SQL drivers to run an EE site rather than mySQL?

The background is that I have a client who is currently running EE on Microsoft IIS and using a cloud-hosted mySQL database provider (very long story). Because the machines aren’t co-located, there’s significant latency on the wire while the EE engine assembles pages. If it’s possible to use MS SQL, we could abandon the cloud-hosted environment and move everything back together - there would be much joy and celebration.
