I’m using the global_edit_this snippet from the Agile theme. See also the discussion here.
The problem is that I get logged out every time I click on the edit link. Never had this before.
Does anyone have a similar experience or a possible explanation for this?

what version of EE? EE 2.6 introduced a unique fingerprint as the session id so if you have session id’s in the “Control Panel Session Type” admin setting then i don’t think linking to the CP will work.

I thought something like that could be the trouble. I’m on v2.6.1 - Build Date: 20130506. Is there no way to use the session id on the front end?
I changed the Control Panel Session Type to cookies only. That solves it indeed. I’ll keep this setting if it doesn’t get me into trouble.

i’ve also been looking for a solution while keeping session id’s, no joy so far
