Rich Text editor removing <p> tags from text

I seem to be having a similar issue here. I can clean up a channel entry and it’s fine, I go back in there, change nothing and submit again. Extra paragraph and break tags appear randomly. I’ve tried ammending the code in ft.rte.php as quoted above but it doesn’t seem to work for me.

@trinityconferences That sounds a lot like this bug. What version of EE are you on?

  • #18 / May 21, 2013 10:38am

    v2.5.5

Any chance you could update to 2.6.1? We made some significant headway on RTE issues in that release. Unfortunately there were some non-trivial changes or I would send a patch.

Yeah shouldn’t be a problem, not sure how I ended up on 2.5.5 to be honest, it’s a relatively new installation. I’ll update and see how it goes. Thanks

Seems to behave much better after updating EE to 2.6.1 thanks.

I seem to be having some more issues with paragraph and line breaks appearing at random despite cleaning up the entry at a code level and entering it again.

    Any ideas?

Do you have a simple example?

Also, what browser are you in? (they don’t agree on anything when it comes to rich text)

I’ve tried Chrome and IE, both of which seem to add/remove paragraph and line break tags. I’m taking some unformatted text straight from notepad, pasting it in and formatting various parts (bullets, bold text) and submitting. On the initial submission everything is ok, subsequent submissions (editing other channel fields) produce these random paragraph and line break tags.

Any ideas on this one folks? I’m stuck with developing this site until the gets fixed and I’m on a tight deadline for launch.

I’m having this same issue, just posted a separate thread detailing my version of the problem.

Is this related to the fact that Rich Text Editor leaves unwanted

after each field with the RTE?

    EE v2.6.1 - Build: 20130506
    field: Rich Text Area

I hope that shall be solved too in the next update. Client not happy, it breaks the design, and I cannot repair this.

Having the same issues here with latest version of EE, and PHP version 5.3.18. I really wanted to use the somewhat new Rich Text editor, but this bug makes it unusable.  Switched over to WYGWAM and everything is working as advertised.

I hate to have to buy another product to use a RTE but am now considering doing so since this feature is useless.  Expresso vs Wygwam - what do you guys think?

    EE 2.6.1
    PHP 5.3.26
    MySQL 5.1.7
