Ok, because the other freaking sites keeps looping “not meet our quality standards” and all freaking else stupid things i need to post into this dead forum with not high hopes.

WHY Expressionengine ISNT deleting attached files when you DELETE one from backend? Is this another stupid non-function in this platform?

I dont want to waste my valuable server hd-space and because ExpressionEngine doesnt delete files as per deleting entries, that is a JOKE!

Same was with the forum few years ago, when it didnt delete attachments (not even sure if it does that today as it should do)

Im really getting tired of the path of this “flexible and awesome” CMS….geesh, and freaking sites that blocks all. Seems that only way to get answers is to make someone happy with money, and then spend more money to get BASIC functions into this etc.etc.

Money money moneyy…show me the moneyyyyy, that should be the new slogan….

Did you check to see if the server permissions to the folder with your attachments is high enough to allow EE to delete the file? If that’s not it, I once had my folder ownership changed by server software updates, and once changed back to a non-root user it worked fine again.

Thanks travisb, but EE do not delete attached files when you access admin/edit and select entries from the list and hit the “delete”. It just delete entries, nothing else. You have to go to filemanager and then again, delete files….*doh*....

Well as figured, this isnt possible: https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/19288

I just cant understand the point of not deleting files from entries when i really want to delete entries….
Nothing comes up with my head why i ever should use same attachments in some other entry if i first delete another…

The way the file manager works allows you to reference the same file across multiple entries. I guess think about what would happen if you had used the same logo (referencing the same image in the file manager) in 15 different entries and then wanted to delete a single entry. As it is now, that wouldn’t negatively affect any other entries.

Yes, but as i said, why there is no such checkbox still available. Even now you get the red warning that you are about to delete entry, so why that is so hard to add a CHOICE to be able to delete all attached files also. Makes no sense…
