Site Redirecting to Control Panel Home

This week, I’ve set about upgrading a fairly substantial site from EE 2.1.3 to 2.5.5, including all the required Add-Ons of course (Structure, Matrix, Playa +) After jumping through a hoop or two, I have the backend working smoothly…no errors, each entry editable, etc, Structure seemingly stable.

BUT when I try to go to the site home page, it redirects to the control panel instead. Has anyone experienced this? I’ve had a blank white page or other issues, but this is the first time I’m ending up on the control panel login screen (or CP home if logged in.)

    Thanks,

    Ted

    Hi Ted,

This seems strange. As you can easily access the control panel so you can check from General Configuration if site url is correct.

Yes…it IS very strange (although I’m hoping for a simple solution.) I’ve checked all the config settings, etc., took out the .htaccess script removing the “index.php” to see if I could get it to work “normally” - but no luck. Putting in the site domain redirects to CP instead of site home page. (CP url works as well, as you’d expect.)

    Ted,

Not sure, it may be due to any extension using hook like session_start or session_end and redirecting. Are you facing the same issue if you are accessing any other page by hitting the URL into browser.

Yes…I’ve tried putting in direct URLs to pages/templates within template groups…always the admin CP.

    Ted,

Can you share your website URL? I would like to see this interesting thing.
    You can PM me.

I bit the bullet, started the upgrade over and upgraded the Add-Ons more carefully this time, deleting any unneeded ones. This time, it seems to be working…may never know exactly what was causing the problem.

I haven’t updated Structure yet. I’m backing the site up first, and if upgrading to the latest Structure later causes the issue, then I’ll know. If it doesn’t cause trouble, then I probably will never know.

    Thanks for posting.
