    ExpressionEngine v2.4.0 - Build: date 20120123

    Hi,

I’ve built a website and now the client wants more people to change items on the website.
I made a member group and members.
What I want to do but can’t find in a user manual is to restrict the choices in the control panel the member sees when he logs in.
It’s been a while I changed that and I remember that in EE 1.xx you could choose the options per member group.
Now I can’t find this any more.
I don’t want the member to see date / catagories / pages nor publish / file manager etc.

    Please help

    greetings

    Hi Franka,

I think this is what you are looking for:

To restrict the publish/file manager you can set these under the member group you want to restrict. Go into the edit screen for the member group you want to restrict. The settings you are looking for are under the “Control Panel Access” and “Control Panel Administration” headings on that screen.

For the hiding the date/categories tabs those you can control by going into a channel entry you want and on the far right of the tabs click on the “show toolbar” link. This will display the field/tab toolbar and you can hide/show any of the fields and tabs as you like. Then once you are happy with your layout you can save it and apply it to the group you want to apply it to by checking the group name and clicking the “save layout” button. You can also test your layout before you save it by selecting the group name from the dropdown just below the “save layout” button and clicking “preview layout”.

    I hope that helps.

    Cheers,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for the quick respons.
I immediately changed the entry’s and the member groups.

If you can help me some more.
I’m still not quite satisfield with the edit entry page for the member group.
    It has 3 menu’s:
    create
    - entry
    modify or delete
    - entry
    - most recent entry
    view
    - site
    - Recent Entries
    - User Guide
    - EE Wiki
Because create and view are not necessair for the member I would like to delete them is that possible?

You already helped me very well.

    greetings

    Franka
