I’m new to EE2, and old to EE1.

On this help page, it shows the field “Summary”

When I click “show toolbar” on the pre-installed News and Information Pages (Agile Records), “Summary” is not in the list of fields.

When I create a new channel, neither Body nor Summary is available.  What am I missing?

When you create a new channel you need to assign a channel field group to it, exactly the same as in EE1. As for the missing ‘Summary’ field check the default field group to see if it is actually there.

Thanks for the reply.  It’s been seven years, but I’m positive that EE1 came out of the box with the form fields all prepared (Title, URL Title, Summary, Body, Extended Text).  I didn’t assign anything.

As for the default field group, if you can point out where that is, that would help me.  As best I can tell, when I go to Admin / Channel Administration / Channel Fields, I don’t see any default, just the two that came with Agile Records (About, News).  And in those two, each of those have their own custom fields.  I don’t see any defaults there.

When I go to Content / Publish / News / Show Toolbar, there’s a dozen fields, none of which is Summary.

    Thanks.

Ah OK I haven’t installed the agile records theme as I always start with a blank install but if such a fieldgroup doesn’t exist you simply need to create it. If you want the old custom fields (Summary, Body, Extended Text) then you should create a new channel field group and create those 3 custom fields within it and then assign it to your channel in question.

The user guide is a little deceptive with the image but you’ll note they only actually refer to Title and URL_Title in the text as these other fields are optional.

Right, I noticed that they had the old standard fields of EE1 in the image, but then never referenced then.  If it’s just a matter of me manually creating them, so be it.

    Thanks!
