Super quick question: Is the a Maintenance Mode for EE2?

I’m guessing not because my searches have come up with nothing…

I’m planning on having a staging server where users can use the EE to manage the site content and preview their changes.  Then once they’re happy and ready to push it all live, they put the both the staging site and the live site in to Maintenance Mode.  Then we start a migration process to upload the staging DB changes and media files to production.  We go over the production site’s DB with staging’s DB dump.  Then we turn off Maintenance Mode on Production and BINGO, staging changes are now live!

Does anyone have a good way of doing Maintenance Mode?

    Thanks 😊

There is an option to turn the site off and display a ‘System Offline’ template. See here:

Perfect, thanks Gareth.  I guess I was using the wrong search term!

Does anyone know if this offline template is a physical .html file or is it served from the DB?

I am trying to find a way to do a database failure check in the database config. If the database fails turn the site maintenance mode on which will display the offline template.

If the template is served from the DB this will obviously not work.

It’s served from the db so you’d need just to create a static page to serve.
