    Hi there,

I’ve just moved an EE-based site that was working fine, but now is not. I’ve updated config, database etc, set those folders to 666/777 but I’m just getting:

    An Error Was Encountered
Site Error: Unable to Load Site Preferences; No Preferences Found

I get the same error when trying to access the admin area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you rename your system folder? If so, check your index.php and admin.php in the root to make sure it has the correct folder name.

Did you remove the index.php from the URL? Check the htaccess file to make sure all is good. I would even remove the htaccess rules until you get it working then put it back.

    I hope that helps.

Thanks for the response! I did indeed rename them, but the path is set correctly in those two files. I renamed my .htaccess, but no effect there either…

I don’t suppose EllisLab has done a guide on moving an EE site to new hosting? There are so many things to remember, a guide would be really handy.

I did have a similar problem some time ago and whilst I can recall precisely what I did I do recall that in my case the exp_sites table was the culprit. Do you have the original exp_sites table that you can perhaps restore then you may be able to get into the system folder and set the system preferences again properly? Obviously back up the current exp_sites table so you can restore if this isn’t the issue but it may get you started.

Thanks for the reply Gareth. I actually just exported the db from the testing server and then imported it, so identical. I’ll take a look in that table though and see if I can spot anything obviously wrong.

It’s working - deleted the db, re-created and re-imported it. Not sure what happened there, but looks like it wasn’t EE’s fault anyway. Thanks for the help people 😊
