Let me get this straight, initially EE was free, then there was a free license, now that was removed as well and now you even need to pay to submit bugs or reports problems?

Honestly I don´t have a problem paying for software, even when they will have a hard time trying to go vs Drupal, WordPress, etc, with this business model, if its delivering then people will pay.

But when you click help/bugs you cannot request support without a paid support subscription. Really?

The only, and probably really “only” reason why someone would go with a commercial software vs open source, is because commercial software is backed by a company and gets support. So what exactly are you paying with an EE license if you need to pay extra to report problems and bugs with the software?

This is like Red Hat charging for their license and as well support again. They don´t, they charge for support, the OS is free, CentOS, Scientific Linux, you name it.

Now, EE is not only commercial software, but you get zero, nothing, none support with your purchase?

Is this correct, because im planning on dropping the software vs going with open source as at least in open source I would get a reply in 3 days to a forum question and this is supposed to be one of the reasons someone sold me to EE, that they have a great community and since its commercial you get fast support.

They lied. There is no support and the community is pretty much dead waters, I can get a reply to a forum topic in Drupal or Joomla in 1 day vs none for months in EllisLab.

I just wanted to confirm is everything I said is correct and if they are really just trying to kill their company and product like this. Again, paying software is not problem, but paying and then get none support or help for it vs going with free and at least rely on a free community, I guess you don´t need to be to smart to choose which way to go.

I went with EE just because it was commercial and I feel I have to Google for weeks in Google for even the most basic questions. Sometimes I land in their own forums and most topics sometimes never had a single reply for this users.

It took Ellis Lab almost days to answer me why their password request feature on their website was not working, so I took days to get back into my account, now I wanted to check my license and possible upgrade, info is gone. Contact link in the website is also very hard to find, now this forums when try to post this shows server errors all the time. What is happening?

Is this a sinking ship? Is EllisLab destroying on purpose their software so we all move away? Im seriously considering if I made the right choice by choosing EE in the first place with all the issues I see. My development is basically stopped on it, because there no answers and I can´t find information, the whole website is changed as well.

I guess its was just to nice to be true, at last something that worked, with commercial support, decent price and great community, all this seems to be completely gone today.

ExpressionEngine has always been commercial software. I responded to a similar query on another thread before I saw this one, but no, you do not have to be enrolled in a support plan to report bugs. Simply log in to https://support.ellislab.com/bugs, support plan or no. First time purchasers get three months of private support for free, and we have grandfathered in all existing users to receive three months free right now as well, even if they only purchased one license from us 10 years ago.

It’s also worth noting that the support plans are per user, not per license, so it covers all of your sites regardless of how many you are working with.

now this forums when try to post this shows server errors all the time.

What server errors are you seeing?
