I’ve been doing a lot of reading on this—but wanted to get some input. I’m just trying to build a basic search form that has three inputs:

    1. A text input that searches the title field and three custom fields

    2. A pre-populated dropdown that searches a custom field

    3. Another pre-populated dropdown that searches another custom field

Any or all of these inputs can be used in any combination. That’s it.

Does the EE advanced search let you designate what field each input can search? I wanted to make sure I wasn’t overlooking something native in EE before resorting to a third-party plug-in. And I’m trying to avoid the added cost of the Super Search plug-in. Do I need Low Search?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Does anyone have any recommendations on this?

You’re not overlooking anything. EE’s native search module does not enable you to search on a per-field basis.

There is a search parameter on the channel:entries tag that lets you specify fields:

Do you have any recommendations for which plug-in I should use?
