That’s a shame, and rather short-sighted.
One of the big reasons I went the CI route & not CakePhp was the active job board here - it is how a great many of us got our start.
I worked for a SF-based software company years ago, and I recall very distinctly the change in community when they start cutting back the non-profit making aspects of the company such as the usefulness of the forums.

honestly i’m OK with the delay especially during the holidays. Knowing it’s coming back is good enough for me. IT was extremely valuable, and a great thing that set EL apart when considering small businesses
