Access Files based on substring of file name

I have a directory full of files downloaded from a multiple listing service with file names formatted as IMG-3471747_1.jpg,IMG-3471747_2.jpg,IMG-3471747_3.jpg, etc. where the middle portion (3471747 in this case) is the multiple listing ID. I want to select all the files that have the multiple listing ID in the file name and pass that list to a javascript gallery. I’ve tried doing it through PHP, but keep running in to rendering errors.

Does anyone know of any plugins or workarounds that may help? This is a deal breaker for the site, so I may have to go back to a pure php solution.
