    Hi,
I have a site running ExpressionEngine 2.5.3 with Multi Site Manager.

We have 8 sites and a single ‘admin’ user which can log in to the EE Admin Panel to edit content on any of these sites. We now have a requirement to set up 8 user accounts which only have access to a single site each. The idea is that 8 separate people will be editing a site each, and they must not have access to anything other than the site they have been assigned to manage.

We have tried this by taking the following steps but it’s giving some very weird results:
    1. Select the site we want to add the user to from the sites drop-down on the top right-hand side.
    2. Add a Member Group and set up the channels that member can access.
    3. Add a Member (username, password details) to the Member Group.

When we log out of the EE Admin panel and login as one of the new user accounts we set up, it is doing one of the following things (different people using different computers have experienced these errors):
    1. Showing an error message which says ‘You are not authorized to perform this action’.
    2. Logging in and showing the site that person has access to. However when trying to login as any of the other users, it is then showing the error message ‘You are not authorized to perform this action’ (almost like something is set in the session which should be cleared on logging out?)

We have checked the usernames/passwords set up and what we are entering is correct so that isn’t the issue.

Please can you advise where we are going wrong, or simply how to set up individual user accounts for different sites on a MSM set up?

    Thanks,
    Andy
