I have given a member group who have Control Panel access permission to edit categories by ticking ‘Can edit and add new categories’ and also ‘Can delete categories’ under the ‘Channel Posting Priviledges’.

However when they click on ‘edit categories’ they get a ‘You are not authorized to access this page’ message. So what is missing!

They can publish and edit the channel entries in all other respects - but cannot edit the categories!

This is EE 2.3.1 - I do not want to upgrade unless I am guaranteed this issue is fixed in 2.5.3. But I am sure it is something else missing - despite the fact that this should work.

Have you gone into “Admin/Categories” then clicked on “Edit Category Group” for the Categories you’d like the Member Group to have access to and checked off the “Can Edit Categories” and “Can Delete Categories” boxes? You’ve given them the general right to edit categories in the Member Group Preferences, but then you have to assign rights to specific Member Groups within each Category Group.
