First off I am a PHP noob, I have tried in the passed to learn PHP and for some reason it just hasn’t caught with me yet. So stumbling around the net I found codeigniter and and watched a few different tutorials for various things using codeigniter and I was able to follow the conversation fairly well. It seemed logical and for the most part I could see a line of code and understand what the tutor was trying to accomplish.

I decided at that point I was not going to use a CMS like wordpress or joomla (or even pyro) for my personal site I was going to code by hand. Admittedly I did try PyroCMS but got stuck in a step 1 loop during install and googling for the answers just brought me to other users with the same unresolved issue. So this only reinforced my decission to hand code my website.

    What my website will have:

Home/News - new post about mysite, or otherwise tech related news.

About Me - the site is meant to be a profession resume of sorts so it will have a short bio to give potential employers an idea of who I am.

Tech Blog - just some writing I’ll be doing about things I experience in the IT world. For example my diving into PHP and Linux.

Resume/CV - pretty much as it says its my profession resume

Projects -  a list of various projects I am affiliated with but not necessarily employed by, a portfolio of sorts. As well as future projects I am brain storming, it gets the idea out there and should someone find they like the idea maybe they would jump on board to make it happen.

Admin Panel - rather than having to hand code the dynamic content all the time I would like to build a simple admin back end where I could post news/blogs and the likes or edit post.

Template System - the whole site would be templated for easy theme should I want to change the look.

lastly user signup/login - while this is my personal site and I will be the only user with access to the admin panel having a user area with forums and such for anyone working on any of the projects in the projects page with me could jump in discuss in private and move those projects along.

Its a task for sure, but I am hoping it pans out for me.
