What happens to existing member passwords when the minimum password length is changed in the system? Are existing members required to create a new password or does the system ignore the fact that the existing password is less than the new required length?
There are currently over 500 members in our system with passwords as short as 5 characters. Our administration wants to change the minimum password length to 8 characters.

    Hey cb_marketing,

Thank you for posting your question. WELCOME to the forums!

When you change the minimum password length, the next time a user goes to login they will get a nice message saying that they need to change their password to X minumum length. A nifty form is shown to enter their current password and then setup a new one.

It’s actually a really slick process.

Is there anything else I can help with?

    Cheers,

Thanks for the response. I am using Zoo Visitor to house members. When logging in a member already in the system with a short password, there is nothing shown on screen. Just a blank screen. Is there something that can be adjusted to show the form to members not logged in or create a page that can be accessed by Zoo Visitor?

    Hi cb_marketing,

Hmmm. Must be because Zoo Visitor is in play. I get the screen no problem.

What version of ExpressionEngine are you currently using?

Have you asked the Developer at Zoo Visitor about this?

    Cheers,
