    Hiya,

I’m deciding whether to implement an internal mailing solution for a client, or using Mailchimp or CM. It requires subscriber management and the sending of regular user emails. My questions are:

    1) At what point, in terms of numbers of users, would EE not be fit for purpose? It would be interesting to know what the largest subscriber lists are that people use EE natively for.

    2) Does it throttle the sending of emails to a certain number every XX seconds?

    3) If a mailing fails half-way through, can you pick up where it failed and continue from that point?

    Cheers,
    Calan

    Hi Calan,

    Thank you posting your question.

I would not use ExpressionEngine for subscription management over a dedicated mail app like MailChimp. You may want to stick with a solution that was built to handle mail.

I am assuming you are talking about using the

The amount of users is really dependent on the server and the local mail system being used. ExpressionEngine hands off to PHPmail, SendMail, or SMTP.

You can set the amount of emails to batch as described here.

If the mailing list fails half way through, then the whole job fails.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
