I have just migrated a site from my own server to an Amazon EC2 Instance and I am getting the following message when I try to login.

Site Error: Unable to Load Site Preferences; No Preferences Found

I cleared the cache before backing up the site for migration and changed any relevant URLS I have cleared my browser cache but whenever I try and login I see the message above.

I have not managed to login at all since moving the site.

I am running the latest version of EE, everything appears to be set fine ? and the site works perfectly on my server.

    Any Clues ?

I was having the same issue as well. I am blaming it on my hosting service though.

What I had done is uploaded all my files like I usually do. But this time I tried uploaded the contents on Themes and System in smaller batches since I was having time out issues on my server that prevented my files from being uploaded all at once.

I also have my database installed on my server.

Once all files were on my server I then changed permissions to the needed folders like images, cache and then my config files as well. I then updated the dataebase.php file with my new info.

I did have to hit refresh once or twice but things seem to be working.

I then went into Deeply Helper and updated all my settings and also synced up all my templates.

Now after a few days of headaches I have my site on a live server for the client to review.

Hopefully this helps you out. this issue really threw me for a loop since I have never had an issue with migration from local to live.

    John,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I have resolved the issue, I turned on debug (der..!) and this highlighted the fact that the connection to my DB was failing.

The SQL server I’m using is different to my norm.

Anyway sorted the connection and boom! .. sites up and running.

    Thanks again.
