Are there any add-ons out there that handle limiting output not just by word or character but also by paragraph? I had one such add-on for EE 1 but have not found a suitable replacement for EE 2.

Maybe http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/hacksaw with a cutoff string of the ending paragraph tag?

Thank you, that looks very promising. And it does tag stripping too, excellent. The fewer add-ons, the better, after the headache they have posed during this upgrade. 😊
