Hi there,
Im having some issues with image uploading and resizing after moving to the live server environment - I was hoping I could get some help to narrow down the specifics…
Im using EE 2.5.2, with Pixel & Tonic Assets 1.2.1 for image uploads & CE Image 2.4 for image sizing.
I moved the site without issue & all existing content is working. The problem arises if I go to add new images. I can upload images in the CP using Assets - no thumbnail is displayed (nor is it created), but the image does upload. I have verified that the images/uploads/_thumbs directory exists and is writable.
I can’t upload images using the EE file manager - I get the message “Thumbnail could not be created for the image. Please make sure the thumbnail directory is writable.”
I can display the image in the template without trying to size it & the ce_img plugin is working for the pre-existing content. However if I leave the CE_IMG code it in the template I get a blank page – theres no PHP error generated. I have tried with the index.php debug=1 turned on to no avail.
I am using a temporary url until the domain is repointed - and have made some changes to the config to enable CE_Img to work when you are using a subdirectory. This was in place before the changeover, and is working to allow preexisting images to be resized. If I remove these edits, the blank page will display (but no images on the site can be sized & displayed).
So, I understand that part of the issue is with the CE Img plugin, but given the issue with the EE native uploader, theres obviously an issue there too. I’ve set the PHP Memory Limit to 128M - I ran the EE_Wizard and did notice that…
Image Thumbnailing using GD, GD2, Imagemagick or NetPBM suggested Yes
GIF Image Resizing Using GD (or GD 2) optional No
JPEG Image Resizing Using GD (or GD 2) optional No
PNG Image Resizing Using GD (or GD 2) optional No
Can anyone shed any light on why existing images would be resizable but not new ones?
Help tracking down the causes of the issues would be much appreciated.
thanks
Kevin
