Hi all,
I have tried all WYSIWYG Editors in the last years. The last ones to try out were Editor and Redactee.
I like the different Editors and I can handle them, because I know how to program html. I don’t even have a favorite really, all of them have their pros and cons.
My biggest problem however is, that when I put myself in the “client-head” mode I am always shocked what the Editors produce. Empty ‘s, weird divs, paragraph nesting and so on. I tried pasting from word, from textedit in both formatted and unformatted mode and typing directly. Never have I seen or reached a state in which I could say that I would happily pass this on to my clients.
Now I am asking if the problem is myself who wants to get perfectly formatted html outputted be Editors. Am I worrying too much or do I want too much, expect too much of these Editors? Should I just let my clients fool around with it or should I train them better and/or expect them to have at least a basic understanding of html?
How do you handle it? What about the 50 year old typical secretary managing all the phone-calls and mail who is now also supposed to occasionally update some informations on the company’s website.
Thanks and Cheers, Marc
