Unable to Update Entry

I have an old install of 1.6.8 and am having an issue with one of my users that is in a super admins group, not being able to update entries. She was able to do it when we worked in the same building, but now she is remote and can’t. I have created another user with super admin permissions and had her try that, but had no luck. I even went as far as having her logon under my username (which I am able to update with no problem) and the entry still won’t update.

    Any ideas?

    Hi keydin,

When she tries to update entries, what happens instead of successfully posting the new entry? Does she receive any kind of error?

Could you tell me more about the connection she’s on? Is it a mobile connection? Is she never able to post a new entry, no matter what connection she’s on unless it’s your connection?

When she updates it says it is saved and shows what has been saved, but the changes she made don’t show up.

She is on a windows machine at home. She used to be able to update this site when she was in the same building I am in, but when she works at home she can’t.

If it only doesn’t work for her there, it may be related to an IP issue (you could turn off ‘Require IP to post’ and ‘Secure forms’.

However- when that’s the problem?  You don’t get a success screen.  If you get a success screen and the info there has been updated?  But there is no change on the frontend?  That usually indicates a cache hasn’t been cleared.  However (again), there’s no reason on earth where she posts from should affect whether or not the cache clears.

She definitely sees a success screen with the new data displayed?  Can you get her to do a screen cap of that?  And then try clearing all caches- see if the frontend updates.  Also have her go back in to edit- if she does that, does the form still have the correct (updated) information?

I’d almost suspect user error/confusion, but if she’s been doing it before with no problem, there’s no reason to suspect that would change based on location.

    Puzzling issue!

No, when she submits, the success screen DOESN’T show the change she made.

Also, went under Security and Session Prefs and I don’t see “Require IP to post” or “secure forms”

    I do have:

Require IP Address and User Agent for Login?
Require IP Address and User Agent when receiving comments?

I am guessing “Process form data in Secure Mode?” is secure forms, yes?

You can see in image 1 that “campaign curriculum and” was taken out, but on the success screen (image 2) it is still there and doesn’t update.

Another bit of info, she is able to update the title of the entry and it saves correctly.  weird

Has anyone else run into this issue? Or is it just the two of you adding content to the site?

Be on the lookout for an email from me. I’d like to see if we can reproduce this on our end.

It is just the two of us updating content on this site. We have one other EE1 install that she can get into and update, so this seems to be restricted to this site.

Got everything taken care of for keydin! The problem was alleviated by switching “Process form data in Secure Mode?” to “No”.

If anyone else is running into similar problems and that doesn’t take care of it, just open up a new support request and we’ll be glad to help!
