I have an old site running on EE 1.6.9 with catalog/files structure:

    /backend
    /eminders
    /files
    /forms
    /images
    /onlineserve
    /path.php
    /php
    /site
    /themes
    /tinymce
    /uploads
    index.php
    path.php
    sitemap.xml

where system folder is located in the /onlineserve and admin access in the /backend.

I have uploaded system, themes and index.php in the root directory based on directions from here http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/upgrade_from_1.x.html

After that update the site is not loading (blank screen, no errors, no source code displayed).

Any idea what can be wrong?

    Thanks

    PS.

I can login to the back end which sill shows as 1.6.9

After enabling debug mode I’m getting that error:

    A Database Error Occurred

    Error Number: 1146

    Table 'cmg_forms.sites' doesn't exist

    SELECT * FROM (`sites`) WHERE `site_id` = 1

    Filename: core/EE_Config.php

    Line Number: 211

And the back end is stuck on a white screen with a URL /admin.php?C=wizard&M=license&language=english

OK, I’m few steps further. I was able to fix issue with previous stuck URI and passed through two more screens - License Agreement and Trackback Conversion and Archiving Options but next step came with error:

    A Database Error Occurred

    Error Number: 1060

    Duplicate column name ‘can_search’

ALTER TABLE exp_member_groups ADD COLUMN can_search char(1) NOT NULL default ‘n’

    Filename: updates/ud_009.php

    Line Number: 112

    Any clue?

    Thanks

So, after digging deeper I found that site is using two installations of EE.

First - /backend is responsible for regular pages and blog as well as access to the EE admin section (“local” DB). Content of /backend

    /cache
    /core
    /cp
    /db
    /dictionary
    /extensions
    /fonts
    /language
    /lib
    /modules
    /plugins
    /templates
    /translations
    /utilities
    config.php
    index.html
    index.php

Second - /site is responsible for pages with forms (“remote” DB). Content of /site:

    /css
    /help
    /images
    /js
    /license.txt
    .htaccess
    cron.php
    index.php
    install.txt

    Maybe this will help? Thanks

    Hi CMG Dev,

Be on the lookout for an email from me. I think the best thing here is going to be for us to have a first-hand look at this one.

    Thanks!
