    Hi
I’m about to do some updates on a running site. But I can need some advice / opinion about the best / smartest way to do this. I have read some threads about this – and it looks like “it depends” 😉

There are mainly some new template, channels and custom field groups I’m going to add – and some minor changes in the html code (mostly on the index page).

So, is this “the right way”?

    1. Live site: create the new templates, channels and custom field groups, and then export the database.

    2. Downloaded all the files and import the database locally

    3. Local site: code the new templates

    4. Upload the new template to the live site. Ready 😊

If the need arise, while coding the new templates, I can add new channels et cetera on the live site and then do a new export & import of the database.

    Is this a doable solution?

    Best, Magnus

if you are doing a busy site, you might consider the terrific commercial add-on:

    Thanks for the tip!

It is not (yet) that busy, but this add-on can be very handy in the future.

    Regards, Magnus
