An agency designed our site for us and then backed up the files. We restored the database and files on our server. Then edit various files and settings, and set permissions. We followed the directions on http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/moving.html and http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/130555

But after doing all that, we see our new homepage, but get a broken link error whenever we click on a link. Sorry, I can’t send you the url because the new site is currently behind our firewall.

How do we get our site to work? Note: we’re new to EE

    Thanks,
    Ken

Is EE still a supported product? Our agency convinced us to go with EE instead of WordPress because they said EE is supported, but I have not received any support.

We’re using EE2.x. The homepage and admin area works, but we’re still getting 404 errors when we click away from the home page. I tried forcing query string as suggested here:
    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/130554/

That didn’t work and it ended up generating invalid character errors in the admin area. The IT guy said he tried setting the path_info server variable, but that didn’t work either.

Any idea how to fix this so we can get out EE site up and running?

    Hi Ken,

Welcome to ExpressionEngine! I’m sorry you felt like you had to wait too long. We do aim to answer all support requests within 2 business days, though I can certainly understand the urgency here.

I also understand the sensitivity to sharing exact details here. Since that’ll make it difficult to get you the best help possible, be on the lookout for an email from me. We’ll connect directly with you there and work on this one.

    Hi Tierra Interactive,

The cause behind the problem is likely not the exact same, so be on the lookout for an email from me, too. We’ll help you out!
