I have some channel fields setup as textareas, that should have been setup as checkboxes.
The entries in these fields have ‘y’ for yes, meaning enable content or do something.

If I change these textarea fields to checkboxes, will the ‘y’, check the checkboxes on the entries?

    Hi John,

I whipped up a real quick test, and the answer is “Kinda”. Changing the field-type was not enough, I had to set the option to “y” in the “Multi-Select Options” box. With that, previous entries that had “y” as the value in the textarea had the checkbox checked, my one entry with “n” in the textarea (or empty) was left un-checked.

I would make a dev setup and run some tests, but I think with that little setup, you would be OK.

    Cheers,

ok, I think what has happened is we upgraded the site from EE1 to EE2, and we were using Pixel&Tonics; FieldFrame FF checkboxes. this plugin isn’t on EE2. Not sure where to go from here.

    Hey John,

    Hrm… a fly in the ointment…

What kinds of FF Fields were they in EE 1? There are update paths, but need to know where we started, ya know?

Is the site in a state where we could get into the Control Panel and have a look towards lending a hand?

    Cheers,

They were FF checkbox fields. Yes, the site is live, but I can give you access. Just tell me how you want me to send it to you.

Just posting a note here to let onlookers know that we’re working with John privately on this for the time being. I’ll post an update back here once we have something to share!
