I’m currently on EE 2.5.2… I’m having a HUGE issue with people who submit content copy and pasting from Microsoft Word & Outlook, which is causing my layouts to break because of all the unwanted markup that is being submitted. I didn’t have this issue when I was using Expresso RTE but ever since I switched to ExpressionEngine’s RTE I have had this issue.

I’ve seen a lot of posts about EE RTE and how people wanted strong/em vs. b/i and honestly I do too but to me that is more of a matter of preference. To me having unwanted markup being submitted to my DB is a much bigger issue.

I’m really hoping not to have to switch back to Expresso as it had it’s own set of issues for me, but need to get this resolved ASAP! Thanks again for the great support.

I haven’t used EE’s RTE much but I know the ckEditor based alternatives (wyvern, wygwam) support a config option to default to “pasteAsPlainText” which would solve your issues. Wyvern comes with this option enabled by default.

    Hi Phil,

    I’m sorry for the frustration!

The RTE was developed to preserve any markup when pasting in the content mode. If you switch to Code View before pasting, it should paste as plain text.

I look forward to your reply!

    Cheers,
