This is very strange and I am sure very simple to fix but I cannot think of a way:

Just installed EE v2.5.2 build 20120606 on http://tnwinc.fr

Created a template group with a template marked as a homepage for the site. It is showing perfectly fine at http://tnwinc.fr/index.php/index However, when I go to tnwinc.fr (domain root), the page is blank when it’s supposed to be displaying http://tnwinc.fr/index.php/index

In attempts to test possible issues, I deleted my .htaccess file from the server and it did not fix anything.

A fast reply would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Strange… Check again that your template group named as ‘index’ marked as a homepage (asterisk in groups list)

If it’s good, go to Admin -> General Configuration to check that “Name of your site’s index page” is set to index.php

Seems, that it’s not, because your site correctly opening in this way:
    http://tnwinc.fr/index.php

Everything is set correctly: index/index is marked as a homepage, “Name of your site’s index page” is set to index.php

There is something else weird happening: originally I created a template group “homepage” for the homepage and then deleted it and re-created the homepage under a new template group “index” while trying to fix the issue. Now the “homepage” group does not even exist anymore but I still can go to http://www.tnwinc.fr/index.php/homepage and see the homepage. Is it some sort of cache issue? I am confused. Maybe this “caching issue” has something to do with my blank homepage issue?

Anybody who had similar problems, please help!

    Hi Olena1,

I suspect there are actually two separate issues here. First, the blank homepage:

It sounds like you might have an index.htm or index.html page in your web root. If that’s the case, your web server will usually serve that up before serving up index.php, which is the file that ExpressionEngine uses as the gateway to serving all EE pages.

Second, the phantom homepage template group: This might be caching, in which case I’d suggest clearing all your caches. Are you also saving templates as files? If so, are there files still in your filesystem for the homepage template group?

Yes, seems that index.html exists in web root folder, because of this:

    http://tnwinc.fr/index.html

Response with 304 - Not Modified instead 404 - Not Found

Yay!!! As I thought, it was ridiculously simple. Daaah. The index.html file.

    Thanks.
