    Hi,

    I’ve just copied my production EE 2.5.2 install from a Virtualmin environment to a non-Virtualmin environment, updated cp_url in config.php, ran through the Moving guide section, can look at the website without any problem, but cannot log in to CP. I’ve done this twice by now on different servers and all in all I’ve lost a couple of hours. And some hair.

    I’ve never run in to not being able to log in to CP. Whatever might fail during a migration, CP would always work after setting cp_url. Now, I just get the login page over and over again. I’ve tried setting a new password (that process works aswell), but that new password won’t work either.

    Any clue how to debug the login process of /admin.php in this case? I want to know what’s going on behind the curtains, but I get no error messages at all.

    Frustrated… Nico

    Hi again,

    As per http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/177199/#840556 I updated config.php with:

    $config['cookie_domain'] = "new.domain.com";
    $config['cookie_path'] = "";
    $config['cookie_prefix'] = "";
    $config['admin_session_type'] = "c";
    $config['user_session_type'] = "c";
    $config['require_ip_for_login'] = "n";
    $config['require_ip_for_posting'] = "n";
    $config['secure_forms'] = "n";

    and I’m in.

    [Insert sigh of relief]

    Resolved!... Nico

    Ah- yes, cookie domain is first thing to check if you can’t get in after a move.  Glad you got it spotted so quickly and thanks for sharing the fix!
