Currently running EE v2.5.2 (Build Date: 20120606) and I’ve had installed EE Forum 3.1.7 and the issues where even as a super admin I couldn’t post a thread. Updating to the new 3.1.8 (20120507) puts me in the same situation. I do the usual forum upgrade with the core EE update at the same time, same problem I’ve had since installing it earlier. Have tried various themes just in case something went awry but still no banana. How do you tell where the issue is lying with the Forum module?

    Hi Lee,

I’m sorry to see you having trouble with ExpressionEngine and Discussion Forum.

Can you take me step by step through your set-up process?

Once you have a Board, Forum and Forum categories set up, what preferences have you set?

Have you made sure you are logged in? I know, silly question.

If we need to, is it on a server we can login to?

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

This was added on to the EE installation at a later date, but it was introduced when I had to install the matching forum module (at the time 3.1.7) to EE version. At first I could post to the forum but for some reason since updating to 3.1.8 and 2.5.2 of EE I haven’t been able to post anything at all.

I’ve set up forum and categories and allowed standard permissions for members to post and reply. I am the super admin, would that not grant any posting ability?

I can see at the top of the installation of the forum that I am logged in correctly when trying to post.

Yes the installation is on a live site if you would like to see it.

    Hi Lee,

Yes, being Super Admin, you certainly should be able to post. Since a new release of EE with many bug-fixes has come out, along with a new release of the Forum, let me get you to upgrade to the latest version and see if that takes care of it. If not, we’ll dive in first-hand to see what’s going on.

Okay I’ve updated the EE to 2.5.3 and the forum is now 3.1.9 - still can’t post. Categories created, forum appears fine otherwise. Type in to create a post and submit and you get returned to the new post screen.

    hi there,

I am in the same situation - suddently I cannot post entries, even when logged in as a super admin. It doesn’t even recognize existing forum entries! it sais: The specified thread does not exist…

I am on forum 3.1.8 and EE 2.5.2 (I cannot upgrade to EE 2.5.3 because of another bug).
I know I’ve changed some member preferences, but as I said, I cannot even look at the topics, even as superadmin!

    any help appreciated!

Just to follow up, the issue is resolved and the problem if others encounter this same issue was that the trailing slash was being removed and therefore blocking the function of the Discussion Forum URL’s from working correctly.

If you have in your .htaccess file :

    # Remove the trailing slash to paths without an extension
    # Uncomment to activate
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /$
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ $1 [L,R=301]

Comment it out and the forum will work correctly.
