    Hi EE community,

I’m having trouble receiving messages sent through EE. (contact form on the page)

I think the problem is that my emailaccount (same domain) is located on another server than the ee installation.

Do you know how I can fix it?

I tried changing email protocol to SMTP but without success. but maybe I did it wrong?

    Hey Osze,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

What kind of issues are you having? Do the email not arrive?

Can you show me how you have this configured?

    Thank you,

    Exactly, no emails did arrive.

The issue was that my EE-installation (the website) was placed on one server and my email accounts was placed on another server.

Because of the different IP-addresses the website couldn’t send email to my mail.
So my website mydomain.com couldn’t send emails to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). There was no problem sending it to another mail, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

My solution was to send the emails through SMTP and in the settings use another mailserver then @mydomain.com. Then I was able to send it to my domain. 😊
Sorry if I didn’t explain it good, but I hope you understood.

This problem must have accurd to more people, but I couldn’t find anything in the forum?
Do you know a better solution. My temporary solution doesn’t feel that nice.

    Hi Osze,

It would have more to do with how your mail server is configured that how ExpressionEngine is configured.

Your mail server needs to be explicitly told to allow mail coming from your web-server’s IP address.

By default, most SMPT servers don’t allow mail to originate from foreign hosts without authentication.

Check with your service providers to see if they can allow the exception.

    Cheers,
