After Upgrading From 2.3.1 to 2.5.2 Site Loads Wrong Template

This is a bizarre issue.  After a completely successful and error free upgrade from 2.3.1 to 2.5.2, my site is displaying the wrong template.  I have several template groups.  The one that is supposed to display by default is called “site”.  The “site” group has the option to display that groups index page as the home page checked.  Yet, when I load the site, it’s showing the template “blog” from the “about” group.  Even that looks weird though.  When I manually load /about/blog it looks correct.  When I just load the site, it pulls a random blog post and then displays every comment ever made on the site.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

I have tried to change a different template group to the default, but it won’t load that either.  Any suggestions?

I’m really at a loss on this one.  I’m new to EE, so that’s not helping either.  When EE is accessed by a browser, is there a default template that gets loaded?

    I rolled back to 2.3.1.  I’ll try re-running the update I guess.

    Hey The Glenn Group,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

After you update again, check your 404 and strict URL settings. That is where I would start troubleshooting.

    Cheers,

    Where are those settings Shane?

Nevermind…I found them.  404 is set correctly and I tried changing Strict URL’s to on, but it didn’t fix the problem.

Strict URLs and the 404 weren’t the problem.  Do you have any other troubleshooting suggestions?

Still can’t get this resolved…What else can I troubleshoot?

Is there anyone else that might have a suggestion?  I’ve been desperately going through the documentation and scanning through config files trying to solve this for going on 3 days now.  I’m thinking I should bail on 2.5.2.

Shane, sorry I can’t give anyone login access to our site.  I’m more than capable of following troubleshooting directions though.  I’m still very new to EE…although this problem has forced me to learn a lot.  What else would you troubleshoot?

Further digging has turned up some additional info…problem persists though.  I was thinking that perhaps it was trying to load the correct template and somehow failing which was triggering a redirect of some sort.  I added some code to the template’s header that’s supposed to call and confirmed that it isn’t loading that file at all.

Now I’m digging through to see if there’s a routing issue.  I have to say that it’s a little disappointing to see the level of support on here.
