Installing EE 2.5.2 and saving as Amazon AMI?

    Hello,

I had what I thought was a great idea: Install EE 2.5.2 to an Amazon AWS EC2 instance and save it as an AMI so that I wouldn’t have to repeatedly install EE as new clients came in. The trouble is, all of the CSS and image links in the control panel are pointing to the URL of the original instance I installed it on, instead of the URL the instance is currently running. This is leading me to believe that the URL that is used to link CSS is either set in the install process itself and saved to the DB or it is a constant that’s being set somewhere I haven’t found yet.

So I thought I’d drop a line in here and ask if anyone has tried something similar to this and either found the magic constant I’m not seeing? Or has confirmed that this is a terrible idea and I should just install it each time like a normal human?

Any input on this is greatly appreciated, thanks!

We have our system installed on Amazon. We have a RDS for the databased then an EC2 for the web server and flat files and it works great. When we need to scale up / down we just rebuild from the AMI and everything works great.
