    HELP Needed Here!

I recently bought the Commercial license ExpressionEngine 2.x with the Multiple Site Manager and 2 additional sites for a total of 5 sites. I have seen lots of add-ons on devot-ee that are listed as (Multi Site Manager) compatible but also marked as “Single Site” next to the price. The first two add-on providers I contacted about buying some kind of multiple site version of their add-on gave me the same answer. Here is one of their answers.

    Hi Howard,

Thanks for getting in touch about this one.

As long as your using the Multi Site Manager (http://expressionengine.com/downloads/details/multiple_site_manager/) you should be good with 1 license for all of the sites 😊

The other provider that I contacted gave me almost the exact same answer.

I just bought more than 10 EpressionEngine add-ons and not a single one of them asked me for a domain name and several of them say “Single Site”. To me “Single Site” means the same as “Single Domain” or am I understanding this wrong. The price of these two add-ons specifically said “Single Site”.

    My questions are as follows:

    1. Do most really mean single installation or mean instance instead of “Single Site?
    2. Can most add-ons like Playa and Matrix work with a single copy of the add-on even thought they say “Single Site” and can a single copy be used on several domains as long as they are on the same instance of the Multi Site Manager without buying other instances of the add-on?
    3. Does the word “Single Site” really mean “Single Domain” or “Single Instance”

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Howard

    Hi Howard,

Thanks for asking your questions here!

Add-on licensing and compatibility with MSM are completely up to the individual add-on author. EllisLab does not define or control how add-on authors license their work.

For the best answers, you will need to contact the author of the add-on you have questions about and work with them directly.

    Cheers,
