This question is definitely related to a resolved thread.
Although this bug is marked as being resolved over a year ago, I have just experienced the same probelem in that the forum documentation states “Under the Forum Management tab in the Forum Module there is a General Preferences link.” and a little further down, “Under the Forum Management tab in the Forum Module there is a Default Permissions link.” when there is in fact no Forum Management tab when setting up the module for the first time as per the instructions in the documentation.

Glad I found the original post describing the problem…

    Hi artvps,

Can you share with me the version of ExpressionEngine and Discussion Forum that you are using?

We are always looking for ways to improve the User Guide, and the Bug Tracker is a great way to file documentation errors as well!

    Cheers,

    ~

    Hi Dan,

They’re both the latest versions - EE 2.5.2 and EE Forum 3.1.8

The tabs don’t appear until after you have clicked the “Add a new Forum Board” link…

Once you have at least one board defined, the tabs are there - it’s just the first time you see it that there is an inconsistency.

    Hi artvps,

I’ve taken a note to revise the User Guide. Thank you for taking the time to inform us!

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Possibly.
    I’ll start a new thread though, if I can’t figure it out…
