    Good afternoon!

We are using the comments module and we are curious if there is a way to make it so I will get an email when a person comments on an article that I have commented on already?

    For example:

    1)  ‘User’ reads article and then comments on it
    2)  ‘Another user’ comments on the article
    3)  ‘User’ is notified that someone (‘Another user’) commented on the article that they originally commented on.

Hope this makes sense, it confused me a bit! 😊

    Thanks again!

    Respectfully,
    EJ Lear

    Hey Learjet,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

I believe what you are looking for is Member Preferences in the Control Panel.

Does this accomplish what you are thinking?

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane,

There is nothing in the Member Preferences that I can see.

Let me try again to explain this better:

    1)  ‘User A’ reads an article and then comments on it
    2)  ‘User B’ comments on the same article
    3)  ‘User A’ is notified that someone commented on the article that they originally commented on.

    Thanks again!

    Respectfully,
    EJ Lear

    Hey Learjet,

    Understood. Thank you.

This is a setting that is et in user’s control panel. You can turn on or off subscription to comments. So very much up to the individual user. Then you can also chose on the fly which comments that you leave that you want to be notified of replies on that particular entry.

As a SuperAdmin you can also set configurations on a per channel basis for comments.

    Does that make sense?

    Cheers,
