I’ve completed all the steps on the upgrade process here
    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/update.html
up to step 5 Run the Update Wizard
When I get to that point, the wizard wants me to do a fresh install rather than upgrading (i.e., it presents the screen for putting in all the install info).
I’m guessing this isn’t supposed to happen, right?

I’m using Engine Hosting, and they’ve verified that my file and folder permissions are set correctly.

I can provide more information regarding domain, etc. via private message or email.

Seriously? I can’t get any help from EE support on this? I’m dead in the water right now.

Perhaps if I ask one more question here. If I do enter all the fresh install information, will that information only affect the config.php and database.php files (ie is the data in my database and other files safe)?

I do have a backup of these, but may as well know going in what will actually happen if I do go forth with the fresh install screen.

    Hi paracletos,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Typically if the config file is empty then the installer will think this is a new install. Did you copy your config file back on to the server? That will trigger an upgrade.

    Cheers,

Thanks, Shane. They were up there, and permissions correct and all. I reloaded them and Shazam, it worked. Have no idea why, but at this point, am not caring. Thanks for your help.

    Hey paracletos,

Hear you loud and clear. If it works and it’s good for you, then good enough for me.

If you need anything else, please just let me know by opening a new thread.

    Cheers,
