Saving templates as files - is there supposed to be a file extension added automatically?

    Hi all,

I’m currently using EE 2.4.0 on a client site (it can’t be upgraded yet, for various reasons) and saving all templates as files.

I’m not sure when it started happening, but now when I check the box to save a template as a file, there’s no extension added to the filename.  For example, a template called ‘photos’ should be saved as ‘photos.html’ but it simply saved as ‘photos’.

If I’m reading the EE doco correctly (http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/templates/templates_as_files.html), this breaks the requirements since EE won’t know what sort of template the file is.

Can anyone explain why this might be?

    Thanks

    Hey digitalformula,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Are these templates using PHP? There is a bug in 2.4 that you might be hitting.

    Please let me know.

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane,

    Thanks for the response.

Re your question - nope, just HTML and EE tags, no PHP.  Also, the template is set to not allow PHP.

    Hi,

So further investigation shows that this bug may still be your issue. Turns out that PHP was just incidental.

    Can you try the fix?

    Thank you,

    Hi,

Yes, that does fix the issue - templates are now being saved with the correct extension.  Thanks for confirming that PHP is incidental - it wasn’t my intention to look into that bug otherwise (my bad, of course).

    Thanks again.
