    Hi,

Besides the fact that I can change the language of the administration panel by downloading a language pack of my choice but I want to know what the current opportunities are for the current last version for my pages, channels, menu’s, etc.

I know there are a number of addons (eg; Transcribe, $150) that do something in translation but they are quite expensive for a freelancer who just did a purchase of $299.95. I want to know if there are less expensive options to have your pages completely translated.

I hope someone can help me come up with a solution.

    Thanks for your response.

    Sincerely,
    Ricardo.

    Hi Ricardo,

I believe you were in last night’s EE chat?  Welcome to the community!

So there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for multilingual EE sites, so you’re going to need to do a bit of research and prototype setups to determine what’s best.  You may want to have a read through the following EE Insider article:

    http://eeinsider.com/articles/multi-language-solutions-for-expressionengine/

At the bottom it also links to a few other online resources as well.

Personally, I’ve used the approach outlined in that article, with great success.  The Republic Variables add-on is great, though keep in mind that it uses EE’s global variables as its structure, which Low Variables also uses, so I’d be cautious about using them both.  It may be fine, but I’d just be aware of the potential conflict.

Things like search, site structure across languages, and the Publish Layout are just some of the factors that will go into making an informed decision.  Like I said, best to just try out a setup or two and see which you like.  Also don’t hesitate to ask the guys behind Transcribe if they have a money-back policy, they’re great chaps!

    Cheers,
    John

    Hello RicardoX,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

johndwells makes several excellent points. I have not tried the article that was mentioned before, so I would take John’s experience and go with it. I know the paid options are very popular.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Cheers,
