    Hi,

    I am new to EE.

    My entry on a sample Website installation is showing up fine, except that the image in the channel field File (Image type) is not shown, but its URL is shown instead. At the same time, the same image is shown if I put it inside a Textarea (Rich Text) field.

    See the page at http://anweshanam.com/eetest2012/index.php/myinfo/tell-or-not

    The 2 images shown are what are inserted inside 2 Textarea (Rich Text) fields. But only the link of the Titanic picture is shown when the Titanic picture is in the File (Image type) field. The link can be seen at the right of the Titanic picture as http://anweshanam.com/eetest2012/images/uploads/1a10e8112aef81090b0f6a706700f851.jpg.

    Why this happens? Please help me sincerely as I am new to EE and have to finish the design of a news portal Website this month itself!

    Many thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the EE community Anweshanam!

    The reason that the link is showing instead of the image, is because the template is missing some important HTML around your file’s variable.

    In your template you have something like this:

    {file_field_short_name}

    And you’ll need something like this:

    {file_field_short_name}

    You could either code that image tag html right into your template, or use some of the options in the File Manager settings and it can add them dynamically for you.

    Hope that helps get you going.

    Hey Anweshanam,

    Welcome to the ExpressionEngine community! Glad to have you.

    Kurt is right, adding the img tag is going to put you back in business.

    Please let me know how that goes and if you have any more questions.

    Thank you,

    Thank you, Kurt and Shane.

    I forgot about the img tag! 😊 Let me put that into the code. I will let you know soon, God Willing.

    Sincerely yours,

    Hey Anweshanam,

    Sounds good.

    You may know this, but there is a few issues with you main domain that you will want to check out.

    Cheers,
