I’m a developer and I have a client with EE. He wants to do crossposting.

For example, he has a main news weblog and the individual stories have links like

    /news/story_name

He also has other weblogs, such as /strange/story_name or /funny/story_name

He wants anything that gets posed into those categories to ALSO get posted under /news/story_name, not just under their own weblog.

Is there a simple way to do this, a setting or a module? I personally would have set up categories and assigned everything to news and then sort by the varying categories, but I wasn’t in on that, so we have all these different webblogs. can I still use categories and just adjust the templates?

The client is using ExpressionEngine v 1.7.2

If someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much.

You are spot on with effective use of categories. . . and even expanding with relationship functionality.

Posting identical material in different blogs creates an SEO nightmare if SEO is important to this client.  You’d end up having to mark one as canonical etc.

Whenever you have a major site architecture rebuild as this may be, it is wise to upgrade to EE 2.5.2. . . and really benefir from the power of ee.
