I’ve built a number of small sites using Expression Engine. One thing I want to progress to is making better use of templates to make a master template that works across multiple channels duplicating as little code as possible.

I wish to add a title tag and meta description tag without resorting to using an addon such as SEO Lite. I also wish to have the fields available for every channel of published content.

Is there an example site, or a tutorial somewhere that would explain how to achieve this functionality. It strikes me as a common requirement.

The best thing I’ve found is this post but it doesn’t go as far as dynamic templates with embeds http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/218832/#1009550

This tutorial covers meta title, description could be handled in the same fashion:

Many thanks Michael. Ironically I had bookmarked your tutorial for building a portfolio and didn’t realise it would contain the answer to my most sought after feature in Expression Engine. I’m looking forward to unlocking the secrets of chunking!
