I too can’t get the IP 2 Nation database to update.

I get the same error after clicking the “Update IP Database” button.

    @todo cache full

I delete the caches - and still get the same error.

I tried to manually load the data by putting the files

    GeoIPCountryCSV.zip

    and

    GeoIPv6.csv.gz

    in the ip2nation cache folder

and I can’t get them to manually load either. Same error: @todo cache full   (Although I’m a little unclear on the procedure for the manual update, put them in the folder and click “Update” or just put them in the folder and - what - try a search?)

    Please advise.

This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hey Todd,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Did you try #8 in the thread? Did this not work?

    Please let me know!

    Cheers,

I believe so. #8 in the thread is a little vague. I actually ended up looking in the code for ip2nation to figure out which files I needed… which I believe are GeoIPCountryCSV.zip and GeoIPv6.csv.gz

If someone could elaborate on what the procedure is for a manual update of the Ip addresses, I’ll be happy to try it again. But from what was described, I believe I have attempted it already.

    Hey Todd,

It sounds like you are almost there. Unzip the files and place them in /system/expressionengine/cache/ip2nation.

When I run the update in my installation these are the files I see in the directory.

    SEE ATTACHED.

Does that make sense? So basically you want the files to be unzipped by the process and placing them in the right directory should do that.

    Thank you,

That’s a bit more clear. I had everything in that cache folder but not unzipped. I have all four files in that folder now…

Unfortunately, even after I unzip them and click “update”, I still get the

    @todo cache full

    error.

It’s just not working. What do I do now?

    Hi Shane -

I had the exact same original error. I followed every step included in this forum and the ‘Ip2Nation Update IP Database error’ forum that you suggested at this URL: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/220215/

I am still having the exact same result. Could you please let me know what to do?

I am logged in from a work username that is not connected to my email address. How should I get in contact with you?

    Hello fiorejo1,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

What errors did you see when you tried to manually update the database?

    Thank you,

    Hi Shane,

It’s the same problem, error and process as toddajackson’s above:
    •  I cleared my cache within the ee control panel
    •  I have manually delete the ip2nation caches within /system/expressionengine/cache
    •  I downloaded GeoIPCountryCSV.zip and GeoIPv6.csv.gz, unzipped the files and placed them in /system/expressionengine/cache/ip2nation (my folder looks like your attachment above)

However, every time I hit update, I continue to see @todo cache full

    Thanks,

    Hey fiorejo1,

Gotcha. Thank you for the information.

What version of ExpressionEngine are you currently running?

toddajackson has not responded to the email we sent yet, so I will bring you into private support to see if we can track this down.

Please be on the lookout for an email from EllisLab.

I got the update to go through manually. The root issue is write access or disk full issues on your server.

Can you check with you host to make sure you aren’t out of disk space?

In the meantime, your database is up-to-date! However, until the disk errors are sorted out, future attempts to update will not work.

If you need anything else, please let me know!

    Hi Dan,

All permissions were set correctly on that folder and we are not out of disc space. Could the issue have been caused by anything else?

    Hi jenn,

Indeed. I was confronted with a few more of these that weren’t as easy to sort out. I had to work with one of the Engineers to work out all the points it could hang up. Proxy servers, request limits and even a lack of .zip support on the server can all result in the same error reported that the “cache is full”.

In hindsight, it could have been one of the other factors affecting your experience here as well.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Cheers,
