Can I set up different default image upload folders for channels? So when I publish to a specific channel and select the upload image button I’m automatically directed to the appropriate linked folder.

Also, besides using an FTP client is there a quick way to upload multiple images to EE?

You can map upload destinations to specific File type channel fields, which are then assigned to a channel.

If you are allowing images to be uploaded to a general textarea field then you don’t get the option to limit to specific file upload folders.

Sure.

Also keep in mind you can restrict upload directories to member groups.
