    Hello everybody…

    I’m building my first website with Expression Engine.

    The website I’m building is a mix of user generated content and content provided by website staff.

    I think I understand the concept of Channels, on my website, as a example, I will have those channels:

      * Countries
      * States
      * Cities

    Every one of those must have, title, a tagline, some text about it, images (gallery) and videos (also gallery). I’m not finding a away to create a reference between Countries and States, and States and Cities.

    Also, I’m trying to use the same name for some fields, like about and tagline… is there a way to re-use the fields or do I need to create different fields for each one?

    And last, anyone with a link to a real good and complete tutorial about building websites using EE? The EE tutorial is much basic for me, and I’m looking for something more complete and more hands-on like.

    Thanks everyone!

    rafael apocalypse,

    I’m not sure about your reference question. But on the other two questions…

    1. Yes, you can create a Custom Field set and assign that to multiple channels.
    2. http://train-ee.com/

    Good luck!

    Hey Rafael,

    If you want to do some references in EE, check out the great Module Playa…
    It’s really welle worth it…

    Hey Rafael,

    Yes to the recommendation on Playa. That’s a powerful tool. It expands on the native concept of relationships available in EE.

    Could we back up a second to discuss the purpose of the countries, states, cities data in your site? That’ll help determine whether or not the data is best set up as channel entries. And on that note, perhaps shed some light on the purpose of the site itself and how people will interact with it.

    Thanks!
