I recently installed the EE 2.4.0 Discussion Forum Module (2.1.7) on my EE 2 install that had been upgraded from running EE 1.6.9 and EE Discussion Forum Module 2.2.0. Everything appears to have gone fine and in the Admin I can see and access the forum module. The exp_forum tables in my DB also seem to have the new EE 2.1.X schema, but for some reason I cannot get the front end to load. I have checked my HTACCCESS file as well as made sure the template file are installed in the proper location I also double and triple checked the configuration and paths in the module settings. When i load the page that should be loading the foams I get a 404 and in the template debugger it doesn’t even seem like the forum module is loading. Any ideas?

Ok I was able to fix this in my dev environment by backing up the forum tables, disabling and reenabling the module and then restoring from my backed up data. Oddly when I applied the updates to my testing server everything went fine and I had almost no issues. The 1 remaining issue I do seem to have is that loading the member list seems to display duplicate rows for every member.

The exp_member table only has single entries though. Am I missing a setting someplace? The site was under MSM in 1.6.9, but I’ve separated it and I am not using MSM in 2.4.0. Could that be causing this issue though?

Adam… is that you? I’m assuming you just posted while logged in to a different account.

This duplicate member thing is odd, and I think it’ll be best to get a first-hand look at this. Be on the lookout for an email from me.

Yup, sorry. I was looking at the forum change log under that account and forgot to switch back. Got your email, I’ll send along the info.

Just posting a note here to let onlookers know that we’re working with Adam privately on this for the time being. I’ll post an update back here once we have something to share!

Turns out the problem was the result of a duplicate set of member groups, the result of a manual import process that Adam used to populate the new site. Once those were removed, everything was ship shape!
